Hello!
I am studying Japanese for two reasons. First, I need to learn a language for Columbia's core curriculum requirements. Second, and more importantly, I want to travel to Japan one day. I am not sure whether that will be through study abroad or my own travels. Either way, I am excited to see the deer at Nara and to eat delicious ramen :)
I like studying Japanese because it is such a different language from English. There is no difference between present and future tense, which I find fascinating because it makes the language more immediate and "in the now." But Japanese is also challenging! The different numbers and counters for age, days, months, etc is hard to keep track of at times. I'm sure with practice I will get better.
I am looking forward to learning more and sharing what I know on this blog!
